The advantages of a 'surveillance society' far outweigh the drawbacks.
Recent research has suggested that the public have great concern in the scale of surveillance on them, however surveillance has been developing for many years and have been assisted by technologies, therefore society should consider all prospective. According to David Lyon, the surveillance reflects this ethos. There is no doubt that our lives are now subject to ever-greater means of surveillance that takes a variety of forms. (Lyon, 2006). Others would argue that, when surveillance increase may cause a reduction in crime. This is clearly exemplified by 'surveillance society' in places such as the London, where the public services prefer to use surveillance system, because surveillance methods include systematic tracking and recording of public places.
This essay will try to explain the main reasons for why the surveillance system will stop crime before it starts, and how it might keep us safe.

Some people argued that CCTV cameras may affect society in a negative ways by invading their privacy.

It is often argued that CCTV helps surveillance of areas that require security, robbery and other crimes. CCTV systems are connections link between cameras and monitors. CCTV systems are used mainly in large public areas. An example of this is many Central Business places in England are now covered by surveillance camera systems. However, others would argue that people own privacy to live without being recorder so they might feel that big brother is watching them.

If CCTV notices a strange behave, they can catch criminal before he commits the crime, which helps authority to reduce the number of crime committed.

Some people consider that an identity theft going to revolve about crimes and helps to forbid many crimes.
Conclusion:
People believe that it raises safety and reducing crime generally.
